Completed nave roof viewed from the new bell ringing chamber.
At the top of the bell tower, conservation has required replacement
of extensive stonework damaged by fire. Structural bed reinforcement
has been installed to reinstate the overall structural integrity of the
tower.
Further works will include placing ties through the core of the East
tower wall, running North-South to prevent the arch from forcing the
supporting columns to 'spread out'
New timber roof trusses have been designed to reflect the style of
those destroyed in the fire, though designed to modern Engineering
principles.
The erection of the roof is well underway, with traditonal joinery
skills being used to prevent the need for unsightly modern fixings.
