COMPLEX STEEL STRUCTURES
STEEL TREE SCULPTURE, SUNDERLAND
Designed and fabricated by artist-blacksmith, Craig Knowles. The
structural analysis and design for this 15m high sculpture was prepared
on ‘MasterSeries’. The project involved close cooperation between the
artist and the engineer to turn original concepts into reality and to
overcome some challenging technical problems.
FIRE TRAINING CENTRE, BARMSTON, WASHINGTON
In association with City Consultancy Services, Sunderland Two of four
structures designed to provide training facilities. The various floors
of the building are being fitted out to resemble an office, flats, a
ship’s engine room and a car ferry deck. Special design was also needed
to allow the structure to withstand up to four fires a day.
WEARMOUTH BRIDGE, SUNDERLAND For City Consultancy Services, Sunderland We are providing technical expertise to assess this major bridge’s capacity. The practice also has expertise in the design of new steel bridges and the refurbishment of older bridges.
