PARK GROVE SCHOOL

For York City Consultancy.

West elevation of the original 1890 Listed Building after the fire. The refurbishment project and the enlargement of the school cost 2 million pounds.

A typical fire damaged classroom block where much of the structure had survived the fire. We try to encourage clients to make new school buildings fire resilient.

Replacement trusses for the original barrel vault roof were modelled on MasterSeries for structural analysis and design. The gable windows incorporate flitch beam mullions.

New steel framed gymnasium and hall buildings were constructed with associated facilities within the rear courtyard. Roof pitch and coverings were chosen to match the original construction.
