Design of pipe bridges for industries such as Borden Chemicals differs markedly from highway structures. Difficulties defining future loads, the layout of the foundations and the aggressive environment make designs interesting.

Assessment of distress in this precast railway footbridge illustrated that the scale of a project does not define its complexity. The unusual geometry could not be proved to be linked to cracking in the supports. This was one of many bridges that we worked on for the City of York

The Practice has monitored the fabrication of 22,000 Tonnes of steel for the 2.9km Rion-Antirion Corinth Gulf bridge.

Structural & Civil Consultants are able to assist bridge owners with routine inspections, and preparation of maintenance contracts. We have inspected and assessed hundreds of bridges in the last few years. The largest Principal Inspection involved 75 approach spans for the A19 Tees Viaduct. This required up to six Inspectors and Engineers on site at a time.

Our Senior Inspector went from leading a team of 25 inspectors on three of the largest bridges in the world for the Chek Lap Kok airport, to monitoring construction of our design for our smallest bridge at the top of the Pennines above Alston for English Nature.
