Two interesting features of the bus station canopy structures were:
a) the lack of bracing in any direction
b) the curvature of the stringer beams which exacerbated the problem of
lateral torsional buckling
The timber framing and decking also curves in three dimensions. Interaction between steel and timberwork was used to create an integrated structure.
The fabricator had to cope with steel curving in three dimensions.
Another unusual aspect was the extent to which structural input was needed to scrutinise almost every connection, even in the timber members.
